Syed Abdullah Al-Mehaz Al-Majel (as)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He was eldest son of Syed Hassan Mussana and born to Syeda Fatima Sughra binnat Imam Hussain in 684 A.D (65 H). He was holder of two titles, Al-Mehez, means only (because he was Hassni from his paternal and Hussaini from his maternal lineage) and Al-Majel (terrible and majestic). He was God-fearing, abstemious and virtuous person and frequently prayed for whole night without any break.

He was most respectful among common men but first Abbasid Khalifah Abu Al-Abbas Saffah Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Ali bin Abdullah bin Abbas bin Abdul Muttlib bin Hashim (crowned in 747 A.D, 130 H and died in 753 A.D, 136 H) was angry with him because he (Syed Abdullah Al-Mehez) demanded his rights from him. Abu Al-Abbas Saffah secretly visited to Abu Muslima Hilal and told that Syed Abdullah Al-Mehez has asked to give him Khilafat, so I want you to be an arbitrator in between Abbasids and descendants of Ali.

Abu Muslima Hilal wrote three letters on behalf of Abbasid Khalifah, that he (Abu Muslima) wants to give Khilafat to Syed Abdullah Al-Mehez, because you are only one who deserves it. I also have called “Shias” from Khurasan; so after receiving this letter, try to reach here as early as possible. One letter was sent to Syed Umar bin Imam Ali, second to Syed Imam Jaffar Sadiq bin Syed Imam Muhammad Baqar bin Syed Imam Zain-ul-Abideen bin Imam Hussain and third to Syed Abdullah Al-Mehez.

Syed Imam Jaffar Sadiq burnt this letter and told to messenger that; it was only answer of this letter. Syed Umar also burnt the letter and said that we have bitter experiences of Khilafat. At first we lost our father Imam Ali and then brother Imam Hassan, so we are not willing of Khilafat. He also told to messenger that letter is an imposture effort only.

After receiving his letter, Syed Abdullah Al-Mehez went to Syed Imam Jaffar Sadiq. He stopped him from departing and advised not to believe on contents of this letter but Syed Abdullah Al-Mehez avoided him and decided to go on with his own planning.

He became prisoner at Abu Jaffar Dawanki Prison and died here in 758 A.D (141 H) at the age of 76. Some historians mentioned 762 A.D (145 H) as his year of death and according to them he was 75 years old at that time.

He married with two women.

1) Syeda Rukkiya binnat Syed Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (mother of Syed Suleman, Syed Mujaddid-ul-Aali, Syed Idrees and Syed Yahya).

2) Salma binnat Muhammad bin Talha bin Abdullah bin Abu Baker Siddique (mother of Syed Abu Al-Hassan Musa Al-Jaun, Syed Abu Abdullah Muhammad Nafas-ul-Zakkia and Syed Ibraheem).

The names of his other 5 brothers were Syed Hassan Musallass, Syed Ibraheem, Syed Jaffar, Syed Daud and Syed Yahya.

Syed Hassan Musallass was born to Syeda Fatima Sughra binnat Imam Hussain in 691 A.D (72 H) at Madina and died in 762 A.D (145 H) at the age of 71. Some have mentioned his three sons, Syed Ahmed (forefather of Syeds of Rome, Egypt and Khurasan) Syed Muhammad and Syed Qasim but according to Tareekh-e-Hassan Mujtaba, he was father of seven sons, Syed Talha, Syed Abbas, Syed Hamza, Syed Ibraheem, Syed Abdullah, Syed Abu Jaffar and Syed Ali.

Syed Abu Jaffar was born in 697 A.D (78 H) at Madina and martyred in 757 A.D (140 H). His descendants migrated and settled at Basra, Kufa (Iraq), Mash had (Iran), Damascus (Syria) and Rome.

Syed Ibraheem was also a zealot and devotee person. His children migrated and settled at Shiraz (Iran) and Yemen. Most nobles of this area are his descendants.

Details of his other brothers are not known.
