Syed Hassan Mussana



Syed Hassan Mussana (ancestor of Gilani Syeds) was second eldest son of Imam Hassan. He was born to Khaula binnat Mansoor-ul-Frazia at Madina Munawarah. His name was Hassan and title was Mussana (means Sani). He was greatly esteemed personality of his family.

According to some traditions, Syed Hassan Mussana was remained at Madina with her wife Fatima Sughra binnat Imam Hussain and never came to Karbala but some historians have written that he was present at Karbala and badly wounded during war. He was brought up to Damascus as a prisoner but set free by Umru bin Saad on recommendations of Isma binnat Al-Hakam Al-Frazia. (God knows better)

He was poisoned twice by the order of Umayyad Khalifah Waleed bin Abdul Malik. First attempt was failed but the second one was successful and he died at the age of 85.

Imam Bukhari, a renowned collector of Ahadees-e-Nabvi, has written that after the death of Syed Hassan Mussana, his wife Fatima Sughra erected a tent on his shrine and prayed there for one year. When she finished, a mysterious voice told her that you have found required thing.

He married with two women.

1) Fatima Sughra binnat Imam Hussain (mother of Syed Abdullah Al-Mehez Al-Majel, Syed Ibraheem and Syed Hassan Musallass).

2) Habshia Roomia (mother of Syed Daud, Syed Jaffar and Syed Yahya)

The names of his other 7 brothers were Syed Zaid, Syed Umru, Syed Qasim, Syed Abdullah, Syed Abdul Rehman, Syed Hussain Asram and Syed Talha.

Syed Umru, Syed Qasim and Syed Abdullah were present at Karbala with their uncle Imam Hussain. They fought against Yazid and got the honor of martyrs. Syed Umru was father of two sons, Syed Muhammad and Syed Jaffar while the name of Syed Asad has written as the only son of Syed Jaffar. Imam Bukhari, Imam Muslim and Abu Daud Nisai have quoted so many Ahadees-e-Nabvi from Syed Muhammad.

Syed Abdul Rehman died at that time when he was performing Haj with his father Imam Hassan, at a village named Abu Ameen.

Syed Talha was a great person of Hassni Family but his biography is not known.

Syed Zaid was the eldest son of Imam Hassan and after his death he became Matwalli (trustee) of Tabbarkat-e-Nabvi (belongings of Hazrat Muhammad P.B.U.H). He died at the age of 90. He was father of one son, Syed Abu Muhammad Hassan Sani who was born in 736 A.D (118 H) and died in 777 A.D (161 H).

Syed Abu Muhammad Hassan Sani was father of seven sons and one daughter (Nafeesah). Their names were Syed Abu Muhammad Qasim, Syed Ishaque, Syed Ibraheem, Syed Abu Muhammad Ismaeel, Syed Abu Al-Brat, Syed Abu Al-Hassan Ali and Syed Abu Zaid Abdullah.

Descendants of Syed Abdullah S/o Syed Abu Al-Hassan Ali were migrated and settled in Khurasan and Children of Syed Noor-ud-Deen & Syed Baha-ud-Deen S/o Syed Abu Al-Hassan, chose to reside in Egypt. Similarly sons of Syed Abu Zaid Abdullah named Syed Muhammad, Syed Yaqoob, Syed Ahmed and Syed Ibraheem, went to Maawra-ul-Nehar and Syed Yahya to Mecca for permanent residence.
